Private chef questions and answers
The questions we are asked most often. If yours is not here, call or text (260) 233-5908 or email events@bookthatchef.com.
What's included in the price?
Menu planning with you, grocery shopping, cooking on site, service in the style you choose, and a full kitchen clean-up. Groceries, tax, gratuity and any extra servers are listed separately on your quote. See pricing.
Is there a minimum?
Yes. Every event has a $830 minimum before food, tax and gratuity.
How do I hold my date?
With a non-refundable $500 deposit, once you have approved your quote and signed the booking agreement. The remaining balance is due 30 days before the event. We also offer travel insurance at booking, for peace of mind.
What's your cancellation policy?
The deposit is non-refundable. If you cancel more than 30 days before the event, the deposit is kept and nothing more is owed. Within 30 days of the event, and once the balance is paid, there are no refunds for any reason, including weather, natural disasters and other events outside anyone's control.
Do you offer travel insurance?
Yes. Because bookings are non-refundable, we offer optional travel insurance through our partner, Faye. When you book, you choose either to receive the Faye link, in which case purchasing the policy is your responsibility, or to decline coverage and confirm that you understand your event is non-refundable within 30 days. Your booking terms apply whether or not a policy is purchased. See our booking terms.
Can I pay over time?
Yes. Along with card, Apple Pay and Cash App Pay, you can use Afterpay, Affirm or Klarna where available.
How far ahead should I book?
Two to four weeks ahead is comfortable. Spring and fall Saturdays, holiday weeks, Thanksgiving and Christmas book first.
Can you handle allergies and dietary needs?
Yes. Every allergy, intolerance and preference (including pregnant guests) goes on your written event order before we shop, and those guests get their own dish.
What do you need from our kitchen?
A working stove and oven, some counter space and room in the refrigerator. If the house is missing something, we bring it.
How many guests can you cook for?
Most events are 8 to 30 guests. Larger groups get more servers, about one for every 14 guests.
Do you provide alcohol or a bartender?
We do not sell alcohol, but our bartenders can mix and serve what you provide, including a signature cocktail for the night.
Can you decorate?
Yes. Our decorators can set the table and style the room or the theme, from linens and florals to balloons. Tell us the look you want when you book.
Do you bring plates and linens?
Signature service includes linens. Premier adds napkin rings and woven placemats. We use the house's plates and flatware unless we've arranged otherwise.
Can we change the menu?
Any of our menus can be changed course by course until your event order is final.
What areas do you serve?
See our locations. If your city is not listed, please ask, and we will tell you right away whether we can be there.
