Why Wilmington groups book a chef
Most groups who book a private chef in Wilmington are families and friends spending a beach week in rental houses at Wrightsville Beach, Carolina Beach and Kure Beach, along with wedding parties in historic downtown Wilmington. The coast here is much like 30A, where our team started: big houses, long days on the sand, and no one wanting to wait for a table afterward.
What we'd cook on the Carolina coast
Coastal Carolina food is close to our own: shrimp and local fish, grits, slaw and Eastern Carolina-style BBQ. Favorites from our menus include shrimp over gouda grits, crab-stuffed flounder, blackened grouper, BBQ pulled pork with pineapple coleslaw, and banana pudding or key lime for dessert.
Beach-week plans
- Arrival night: a family-style seafood dinner while everyone unpacks.
- Midweek: a BBQ spread on the deck and a brunch for the whole house.
- The last night: a plated dinner to close the trip.
You can also book a chef for the whole week, from $1,250 a day plus food.
Good to know
- Summer weeks, June through August, and the spring wedding season book first.
- Island rentals can mean bridge traffic on Saturdays, so we plan arrival times around it.
- Pricing: dinners from $57 a person and brunch from $68, plus food, with a $830 minimum.
